A Whale of a Time

Written by:

One of the greatest adventures St. Andrews has to offer is whale watching. There’s something very special about being out on the open seas with the wildlife in their natural habitat. Thankfully, The Algonquin Resort is located in the perfect area to see a variety of beautiful marine mammals.

The world’s highest tides stir up a bounty of food in our local waters. This attracts several species of whales and depending on the time of year, you can see a great variety including Minke and Finback whales. During August and September, you’ll have the chance to see Humpback and Right Whales, the rarest whale in the world.

Most whale watching tours in our area also include the view of seals sunning themselves on the rocks and once among the islands, porpoise and sometimes white sided dolphins will often approach the boat! Tours will also likely include the view of Atlantic Puffins, Bald Eagles, Razorbill Auks, Black Guillemots and other pelagic sea birds.

Let your inner explorer lose with one of the amazing St. Andrews whale watching tours. For more information, please see our whale watching page.
